Yesterday I went to the opening of the newest (partly kinetic = moving) exhibition at the Galerie Valérie Bach.
Even though the Brussels based art collective LAb(au), which consists of the 3 members, Els Vermang, Manuel Abendroth and Jerome Decock, already had numerous exhibitions abroad (e.g. in Paris), this is their first solo exhibition in their hometown Brussels.
I had a little talk with Els (very nice girl) who explained that their kinetic works are not supposed to be too organised nor too predictable. That's why very often nothing much happens. You have to be patient (a quality we seem to forget more and more nowadays when everything has to be instantaneous or at least super fast). I very much enjoyed watching their works for a little while, marveling at the sometimes slow, sometimes rapid transformations of the various pieces, being delighted by the gradual appearance of colour and the shape shifting of the different works.
The show is displayed in the basement and on the first floor of the gallery. The photos you see here and the videos that follow where taken in the basement.
Come and take a look if you have some free time during the next few days. It's on display until October 22nd and definitely worth it!
