Why you should visit the Rubens' House in Antwerp

02/29/2016

I went to visit the Ruben's House in Antwerp once again. It is still very interesting and impressive. Definitely get the audio guide for a lot of extra information (when you're lazy like me and don't want to read everything yourself). It's a good idea to bring your own headphones because those are not provided.

On the last Wednesday of the month you can visit it for free (otherwise it's 8€, which is not going to kill you either 😉). My biggest problem today was finding parking space. Pffff...

In the photos you see:

The beautiful interior courtyard.

The terrace: I wouldn't mind having breakfast here one day (euhm... when the weather is somewhat better).

Otherwise there is also still a dining room inside.

This is part of the artist's gallery where he kept his art collection (with works from other artists).

And in the evening they had beautiful beds to retire to (mind you, the people in those days usually slept partly sitting, partly reclining because they believed that you were more likely to die in your sleep if you laid down completely).
